Julian Group

The ecumenical Julian movement is named after Mother Julian of Norwich, a 14th -century mystic who practised contemplative prayer. The movement in Britain began in 1973 and is now made up of over 300 groups. Locally, there are meetings in Guildford, Godalming, Leatherhead and Ockham. The movement is international. There is no membership subscription but a magazine containing articles on prayer and related subjects is published three times a year.

At our meetings, a brief reading leads into about half-an-hour of silent prayer, which is followed by time for tea and conversation. People are free to come as they wish and members from other churches, or of none, are particularly welcome. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of the group is the encouragement in the Faith that one person can offer to another.

The room in which we meet can only contain a maximum of nine, but so far we have always been a comfortable number. If you would like to come and join us, just once or more regularly, ring 747213. We would be delighted to see you.

We meet on the first Monday of each month.
