Trinity's Parents' Group - what is it?

Trinity's new Parents Group has been set up to support parents, mainly of children under 5, who worship at Trinity, or who are affiliated to Trinity in some way.

It is exciting that there are currently a large number of families with young children worshipping at Trinity. And while having one or more small children is, of course, a tremendous blessing, it can also be an intense and exhausting responsibility and naturally all parents are learning as they go along! The Parents' Group was formed to provide mutual support for each other, a chance to socialise with other Christian parents and to learn from each other. The group also aims to be a point of contact for new families coming to Trinity and for follow-up contacts after baptisms. As such there is huge potential to witness to each other and to others in the area who may become involved in the group. Please pray for us as the group becomes more established and relationships deepen.

There are many ways in which the group could evolve, and our aim is to be responsive to changing needs that emerge - watch this space for details. So far we have tried play sessions during the day for parents and children and have had some most enjoyable summer picnics during the summer holidays where children, as well as parents have enjoyed each other's company. At present however we plan to focus on monthly evening meetings at people's homes once children are tucked up in bed. As well as a time of fellowship, we will be discussing issues relating to parenting and children, but also to current affairs and Bible study. The first such meeting is on Tuesday 3 September at the home of Susan Lee, when we will be sharing the questions and maybe even some answers to flummoxing questions such as 'Will my guinea pig go to heaven?'. All are welcome.

We are also planning reasonably regular social gatherings - the first of which is on Friday 27 September when we go for a meal at the Binaka Indian Restaurant in Horsell - see the TLT 'Dates for your diary' or ask me for details if you are interested.

While the focus of the group pivots around the needs and interests, mainly of mums, of small children, dads are always welcome and we would like to stress that the group is open to all - parents or not - who feel it would be helpful to them. Similarly if you feel you have something to offer to the group from which we could learn, please let me know - we are open to new ideas.

Events will be publicised in the notices and TLT's diary. We have tried to contact everyone who we think may be interested, but if you have been overlooked, please accept our apologies. If you would like your name to be added to the mailing list for this group, please let me know. I would be very happy to hear from you.
